So, you have your own business. Congratulations!
Whether or not you realize it, it takes a great deal of courage to
do what you are doing. So give yourself a big pat on the back.
Mainly, you are flying solo. You probably have
a home office or share an office with another solo-preneuer. Or
perhaps, you have a retail store. You may have one or more people
around to help you out, but when it comes right down to it YOU
are THE ONE.
YOU make the decisions. YOU do the marketing and
make the sales. YOU do the networking. YOU write the proposals. YOU
purchase inventory YOU create and deliver the service or product,
YOU write the checks and invoice the clients, not to mention collections.
And, besides all that, somehow you manage a personal life too. As
Harry Truman said, “The buck stops here.”
You like making decisions on your own, but every
now and then it would be really good to have someone else you could
call, a shoulder to lean on, someone who listens and really understands
what you are up to, someone who can point out another point of view,
someone who can challenge you to stretch, someone who can tell you “you
can do it” when you want to quit.
Many self-employed ask themselves dare I hire a
coach? Can I afford it now?
Find out if Coaching is the next step in your
future and whether group or individual coaching makes the most
sense for you. Put Ruth Zanes on your calendar right now and send
an email, or call, requesting to set up a confidential, complimentary
conversation with Coach Ruth.
Here’s what some self-employed clients
have said about their coaching experience:
"At the time I hired Ruth, I was unsure
as to what direction to take my photography business, or even if
I had a business. Ruth worked with me on goals, financial and personal
accountability, marketing ideas, and business direction. During
the 6 months with her, I learned to keep financial records, develop
goal setting and achieving those goals, and business principles.
Her coaching helped me focus on my business direction and make
some life- changing decisions."

"When the company I had just started
working for was acquired and decided to relocate. You were there
helping me to see the many possibilities and choices available
to me when I could not see beyond being a corporate employee. You
had coached me into the new job, helped me negotiate my new contract
and I thought I was going to live happily ever after. But relocating
to a small southern town was not exactly my idea of heaven. Finally,
you helped me see that the world did not begin and end with being
a corporate executive. Today I have my own consulting business,
live in the city of my choice where my significant other and family
lives. I've built my own consulting business and continue to grow
personally and professionally recently adding coaching to my services."
- President and owner of a consulting and
coaching company
Detroit, Michigan
"You helped me see that what I was
doing was something I was less than passionate about. You helped
me articulate what I really wanted to do. I had no idea about how
to start my own business in, a field I had no experience in. I
never could have made it without the invaluable coaching sessions
we had. You have a natural instinct for business that helped to
guide me. You were always there to help me with writing proposals
for large corporations, hiring sub-contractors, managing my relationships
with clients and even my skeptical wife. You helped me create an “environment
of support” so that I could handle the many things a sole
proprietor has to do."
