Career Coaching
Opportunity shows up in various ways in our lives.
Sometimes fate gives us “a whack on the side of the head” (such
as being terminated unexpectedly from a job) so we can wake-up to
the possibilities available to us. Whether we choose the circumstances
or they are visited on us we must move on. But, where do we start
when it comes to deciding what and who we want to be, and what we
want to do?
Transition
can be both exciting and scary at the same time. Whether you are
moving up or moving out, new perspectives and insights are necessary
in order to get where you are going. You literally have a blank canvas
before you and can choose the colors you want and where to put the
paint.
In Career Coaching we create a customized program
that may include all or one or more of the following:
- Personality, needs and skills assessments
- Resume
- Characteristics of your “dream job.”
- Creating your life purpose and ultimate goal – Is it business
owner, employee or something else?
- Shifting attitudes and beliefs that may be barriers to getting
what you want
- Confidence building
- Interviewing skills
- Strategizing the job search or new business establishment
- A Personal Image Assessment
Here’s what some clients who wanted Career
and/or Transition coaching have to say about coaching with Ruth Zanes:
"When I first called you I knew
I was in trouble at work I could not accept the idea that my new
boss and the other powers that be, did not want me around. However,
I thought I could change things around. After all, I worked for
the company for eleven years, got promotions and was leading the
brand I was responsible for with considerable success. You helped
me to see the reality of what was happening and in spite of that
I continued to hang-on, with you coaching me along the way while
I was put on probation. When I was finally told to leave, you coached
me to negotiate a fair settlement. My confidence was shaken and
I thought I would never find another job in the field I love. Through
each step you coached me, boosted my spirits and helped me strategize
a job search from building a resume to finally choosing from four
great offers. You never told me what I to do. But because of you,
I was able to base my decision on factors other than money. The
past two years in my new position has been very successful and
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your invaluable, brilliant
coaching."

"Ruth, when I realized I was actually
going to take early retirement from the job I worked at faithfully
for the past 15 years, I realized that I could do many things with
my life. I was only 55 years old and hardly ready financially or
emotionally to literally retire. Calling you was the best thing
I ever did for myself. What a gift and a treasure you turned out
to be! With your coaching I finally was able to define my life’s
purpose – what I am here to do. Then I was able to design
a plan and carry it through with your guidance. I am now living
at the beach (a life-long dream), writing freelance and, as you
say, gone directly to my dreams in all aspects of my life. Thank
you!"

"My experience with you can best
be described as a process of personal discovery and development.
I went into the coaching experience a vice president of operations
for a major telecommunications company. I had very pragmatic, near-term
goals in mind. I wanted help with my resume, I wanted help with
a job search strategy and I wanted help negotiating a package with
potential new employers. What I ended up getting was something
totally unexpected. What I got was a set of tools that enabled
me, with your consistent and firm guidance, to gain a better understanding
of what was motivating me, what I really wanted, and most importantly
why I wanted it. You helped me gain a far clearer picture of my
value as a prospective employee, business partner, or team member
and as a result I have a greatly increased level of self-confidence
and self esteem. "As a result, I greatly improved my working relationship
with my boss. I had thought he was the main reason I had to leave.
You helped me discover what was really going on between us and
I was able to come to terms with him. I was then able to choose
to stay with my current company instead of looking for something
new. My life has been transformed both at work and at home. Today,
as you know, I am the happy head of our European operations."
